Meaning
May noble thoughts and intentions come to us from every direction.
Ā No Bhadrāḥ — Welcome noble insight
This brief opening opens a window. Wisdom need not arrive wearing the clothing we expect. A stranger, a difficult conversation, or an unfamiliar tradition may reveal something we have failed to notice. The invitation combines openness with discernment: what is welcomed is what is good and worthy.
Receptivity is active. It asks us to listen closely enough to understand an idea before accepting or rejecting it. We need not surrender judgment to learn from another person; sometimes the first noble intention is simply to become a more careful listener.
A moment to reflect
Listen today to someone whose experience differs from yours. Find one insight worth carrying forward.
This is the opening phrase of Ṛgveda 1.89.1, not the complete verse. Kratu carries shades of intention, resolve, and thought.
